This album is part of the illustrious Communal Music, an ongoing project by AEMC. The series explores the role of audio sources in the composing process.

Basically, the project is a musical answer to the question: "What happens when different composers have the same audio material at their disposal?"

Each composition is made with exactly the same audio material - a collective sample pack that consists of a couple of dozen samples, selected by the composers themselves. Every volume has it's own unique set of samples. The composers aren't allowed to use anything outside of these samples in their composing process, but they are of course free to manipulate the samples as much as possible.

Above all, Communal Music is a celebration of sample-based music and the ingenuity of - often underappreciated - composers.
